How Can I Help Koru Care

Families Fundraising

Families FundraisingThe children who go on the Koru Care trips enjoy, and really get a kick out of helping to fundraise for their trip costs – the ideas children come up with can be quite unique and shows their own personalities.

Families have in the past held dinners with friends and family paying to be a guest, others have held car washes, coin trails and much more.

Children also get their schools involved with some schools having held talent quests, coin trails and sausage sizzles.

Listed below are some tried and tested fundraising ideas that families have used in the past to help Koru Care cover the cost of taking their child on our trips.

Suggestions include making approaches to the following organisations -

  • Local Sports Clubs – asking them to hold raffles etc
  • Local Businesses
  • Local Business Round Table
  • Community Newspapers
  • Local Radio Stations
  • Bunnings or The Warehouse who allow sausage sizzles outside their stores
  • Approach Lions, Rotary and RSA clubs in your area

Contact your local paper and ask them to do a story on your child and Koru Care. We have received many donations from the public by parents doing this.

Approach your child’s school principal/teacher to see what help the school can give.  Schools have done everything from mufti-days and silly-hat days, to sausage sizzles, cake stalls, school productions, bike-days, cheese and wine evenings and face-painting etc.

Families FundraisingIf you, or your child, belong to a church, sports group, scouts or brownies etc, they may also be keen to help fundraise using the above activities.

Some families have formed working bees in their neighbourhood to cut lawns, tidy gardens, do car washes and cake stalls.  Some families have also hosted afternoon teas for their friends and families.

If you plan a fundraising event, please let us know and if appropriate a Koru Care NZ representative will be happy to come along to support the event.
