The children that participate on the Koru Care Gold Coast Adventure are generally chosen as they are too ill to handle the long distance travel to California or the long days that this trip has. The trip lasts for 8 days and is a bit more relaxed. The group consists of 26 children and 15 caregivers with each caregiver assigned 2 children. The group stays across the road from the beach in Surfer’s Paradise. These are 2 bed roomed apartments with 2 bathrooms. The apartments have a kitchen with washer and dryer and there is a pool in the complex.
We normally start easy with a visit to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary which provides a rare opportunity to see and experience their amazing native wildlife. The kids get to cuddle a koala, get up close to a crocodile, get amongst a mob of kangaroos or check out reptiles, birds and marsupials in amazing wildlife shows and displays. For more wild life experiences we go to Sea World where we are enchanted by the dolphin show Imagine. The group enter the amazing frozen world of Penguin Encounter, home to the world’s second largest penguin species, the King penguin. And also come face to face with the beautiful Polar bears at their state-of-the-art home Polar Bear Shores, and sharks and tropical marine life at the awesome Shark Bay.
We then hit the theme parks. With some of the biggest, tallest and fastest rides we head to Dreamworld. It has some of the most spine-tingling, heart pumping scream rides in the country. For thrills this big you can’t beat the Dreamworld BIG SIX THRILL RIDES! For kids and caregivers that can’t handle this excitement, Dreamworld also offers a host of family rides catering for the younger thrill seekers, slightly less adventurous but still guaranteed to delight.
For those that do not get enough of thrill seeking we then head to Movie World where those that dare can ride the Superman rollercoaster – an unprecedented rollercoaster ride experience which travels 0 – 100 kilometres in just 2 seconds! It has 760 metres of vertical climbs, weightless drops, head spinning twists and giant G-force turns. To take a break from the thrill seeking the kids can take a seat and watch the Hollywood Stunt Driver show where they are immersed in a real-live action working set.
With all this activity we of course give the kids a chance to relax. They can go across the road to the beach or just relax by the hotel pool. There is also time to head to the local shops to get those gifts and souvenirs for those that were left behind.
