"Do you know what?
When I left I was angry at the doctors, sick
of hospitals and school was horrible. I was
getting really frustrated easily at anything.
But when I came back, I was happier about
everything. This kidney thing - well, it's
just how I am." HANNAH,
AGE 13 YEARS
“Hannah has had
breathing space from the rest of us and she’s
had time to think. She has looked at the other
kids on the trip and made some positive decisions
about her own health and life. The difference
in her attitude, behaviour and general outlook
is astounding.” RAEWYN,
HANNAH’S MOTHER
"Hannah started out
a bit down about her health, but then she
saw that other sick children, often with problems
more severe than hers, knew how to enjoy themselves.
She found out that her condition didn't have
to stop her from having a good time. By the
end of the trip, she had a totally different
outlook on life."
AYAKO, KORUCARE CAREGIVER
"When I was told
that I was going to Disneyland, I was very
excited and couldn't wait for the day to come.
I had to get my passport ready and lots of
other things. On the day we went, we all gathered
at the airport and said goodbye to our families.
When we finally arrived, it was daytime and
it was hot - like our summer, but hotter.
During the next ten days we had heaps of fun
and went to lots of different places. It was
good to tell everyone about my trip and it
was really great to have been able to go overseas
so soon after having my kidney transplant.
Once I was back at home, I did some speeches
to say thank you for the money Koru Care raised
to give me a chance to go." DAMIEN,
