| Chairperson honoured with Queen Service Medal |
Ann Bain who has been the Chairperson of Koru Care Charitable Trust for 15 year has been named in the New Years Honours List and will receive her QSM at a formal function later in the year.
After steering Koru Care Charitable Trust for so many years with little acknowledgement or fanfare we are pleased to announced that she has been recognised in the New Years Honours List for her tireless work in helping ensure that the children who take part in the annual Koru Care trips to Disneyland and Brisbane are the success they are. We are very proud of Ann who is very deserving of this award for her service to children. |

| Koru Care Hits The Road – September 2009 |
Koru Care has recently been emblazoned on the back of a Vernon Carriers Limited truck. Vernon Carriers an Avondale based transport and distribution company has recently had the back of one of their truck and trailers painted depicting the work of Koru Care Charitable Trust. Neil Vernon, Managing Director, said “we have had a strong association with Koru Care for a number of years and wanted to spread the message of how important the Trust is to young people in the community.”
In September there was an unveiling of the truck at the Vernon Carriers depot. Attendees included the children and families of those that are in the images, sponsors and Koru Care volunteers. Special guests were the family of Daniela Tekii, who sadly passed away in January 2009 and to who the truck is dedicated. |

| Californian Adventure – 24 October to 08 November 2009 |
| Koru Care returned home exhausted from two, fun filled weeks and by all accounts the children that participated had a trip of a lifetime, hopefully have made some lifelong friends and have many great memories. We would like to thank the main sponsors of this trip, Southern Stars Charitable Trust, bb’s café, Pumpkin Patch, Vernon Carriers Ltd, who without their support, these trips would not be possible. We would also like to thank SeaWorld San Diego, San Diego Zoo, Universal Studios and Knott’s Berry Farm for sponsoring our park entrance tickets. Pictures of the trip can be viewed in our photo gallery. |

| Annual Christmas Cruise – Thursday, 10 December 2009 |
| Koru Care took 250 children and 60 volunteers out for our annual Christmas Cruise. The day included a 2 hour cruise on a Fullers ferry around the Auckland harbour and then a party and BBQ at Eastern Beach. Our guest of honour on the cruise was Ronald McDonald who took time out of his busy day to mingle with the children. At the beach the children had fun eating, swimming, riding in Thundercats, dancing and singing to the DJ and then Santa arrived by fire truck to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. A great day was had by all and Koru Care would like to thank all those that made it possible. Pictures of the cruise can be viewed in our photo gallery. |
