The trips that Koru Care put on are welcomed and needed by the children who go on them. The children that come to Koru Care asking for help have been betrayed by their bodies. In some cases they have cancer, kidney disease or heart problems, in other cases they’ve lost the use of limbs or have serious congenital abnormalities. But they still have the capacity to smile, laugh and create good memories; they just need someone to wave a magic wand.

When the children come back from their trip they’re invigorated, they have a new independence, they’re often happier than they may have been for weeks, months or even years.
Not only do the children who go on the trips benefit, but there is also a benefit for the family. Often there are siblings who may feel ‘left out’ because mum and dad spend so much time and appear to give more attention to the sick child; the time that a child is away on a trip give the family the chance to ‘regroup’ to be able to spend more time with their other children. The positive change this can bring to the family can be tremendous.
